1 kg / cm^2 is approximately 14.25psi. So the first red line is at about 150psi; the second line is at 170psi; the yellow line is at 213psi or thereabouts.

Well, I am yet to have a trip behind 5485 but 656 is a must :). I shall of course boycott the Pacer in favour of Helga and Hagar.

I'm not sure if I have any issues of Nene Steam that show 656 when she was last running?

Cheers Tom. I generally 'do' lbs/in sq for steam boilers, but as I don't tend to get off the planet too often, 'bar' for pretty much all else.

Pretty much, 1 bar = 1 kg / cm2 (not quite, but pretty close).

The norm in the UK is to only have one red line. It might lead to some confusion but, I guess if the second one is the swp any confusion would be erring on the safe side
656’s smaller cousin (385) has only the one red line at a swp of 10 men.

It may be that the extra two lines on the gauge were added sometime after 656 was built, perhaps after it finished service with the Danish State Railways (DSB).

I also suspect that the gauge on 656 was a replacement, back in its DSB days. The photo shows the original (discarded) gauge from sister loco 657 at Danish heritage railway SFvJ. Different dial, and only one line.

Apologies for drifting from national preservation. My excuse is that DSB's class F was developed from tender engines supplied to Denmark by R & W Hawthorn in 1873.

NVR Wagon Group are running one of their popular Freight Driving Experience days next Friday, 14th October, hauled by Class 45 'Peak' Diesel 45041

£165 a person for a half day with refreshments on arrival followed by two round trips hauling the demonstration freight rake, with a chance to drive for part of each round trip.

Afternoon nearly sold out (one place left at time of writing), but places still on the morning session.

Good to see an LNWR engine on a LNWR line! I shall try and get there.

A pity it's leaving but it has been languishing in the shed for years - better that it is repatriated and finally returned to steam. Then something else can have shelter.

Certainly some interesting machinery in that shed.

The answer to that is "yes": https://www.svrwiki.com/DRG_64_305

However, whilst trying to look that up on UKPRSL I saw the following notice regarding that site: I'm sure that there's a better place for it than here though.

Hopefully it's sale will release some funds to progress other projects, and as you say, it's been sat for a long time with little prospect of returning to steam here, so fingers crossed it has a better future in Germany.

It would be lovely to see the NVR build a more resilient home fleet of operational steam.

Is there currently only the big Romanian tank and Tinkerbell operable- I'm sure I read 34081 was requiring repairs?

    It’s a Polish tank. :)
The Dane isn’t quite ready for traffic.
34081 has a niggling problem with the thermic syphons. Repairs have been initiated.

I'm sure it will. I'd like to see any funds go towards expediting 73050's return or better still, that of the Gate Guardian :)

Mind you, there are also other things needed by the NVR that aren't haulage related that could be useful: lighting in the workshop for one.
