If Steam Centres & Railways Combined

    Why not move GWSR to start from Didcot? Both GWSR and Didcot are important in their own rights, so moving either of them would actually mean that you have lost part of the reason for thier existance.

    Well said. Curse the A34, the DN&S would make a lovely preserved line!

    It would seem that a fair few of the medium and larger sized preserved railways have realised that a museum style presence on operational railway is the best option in terms of interpretation of collection and increasing visitors length of stay. It can also mean something to seeon a non running day. I know that's the direction that we at Tanfield are planning on heading down.

    Would leave the Central Belt with nothing. Though the idea of 3 6LDAs on a long train over Granish Moor is a bit salivating. Take the trak panels from Manuel - Boness and rebuild the Speyside Branch. I'll get my coat.

    Crewe Heritage Centre to Oswestry. Space for a real works and a good length of line to test locos on.
