Lineside Passes - West Somerset Railway

I see that the West Somerset Railway is going down the same path as the Bluebell Railway a few years back, and introducing their own Personal Track Safety course for Linesdie Photographers starting from next year.

It was probably inevitable in this day and age of H&S, that this was going to happen. How long before railways such as the Severn Valley, follow suite.

£50 is a bit steep, but then again the PTS does last for 3 years - although renewal for the subsequent years will be cheaper.

What about the people with Network Rail PTS ? Would they need to undertake this watered down exam?

The official website says "There will be an exemption for holders of valid PTS certification from the mainline railway companies." which I assume includes NR.
