“New evidence” - quite! Old evidence reinterpreted, though I know of a third researcher doing their own analysis and I delight in knowing that between David, myself and the third researcher, we have disproven, confirmed, and then disproven by...

This is pure theatre for the purpose of building a T1, to be frank. There are virtually no sections of track in the United States safe enough for the running of a steam locomotive above 75mph let alone 100mph. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to...

Background: David Andrews and I both bought a load of ex-LNER dynamometer rolls over the last two years (he has subsequently donated his, post his research, as I intend to once my ongoing research is complete). I have a meeting this Friday to...

Until someone runs a steam engine in modern times with accurate equipment, Mallards record will stand as the generally and widely accepted record of steam maximum speed.

Here we go again. There seem to be people on this thread keen to dismiss Mallard’s record. A pointless exercise IMO. They’re never going to convince the Gresley faithful and I doubt the NRM will be removing the commemorative plaque any time soon....

I think the plan is to work with the local authorities and people to work out what the best fit and solution would be having first demonstrated need and net benefit.

Access and parking is the critical issue, and your assessment is spot on. Those out of town locations are fine for very occasional use, but not so good for an operational railway.

A quiet day atop the hill yesterday both in terms of the weather and those who gathered! Truth be told, we're eking out things at the mo. yes we need to sort the workshop PMV out, BUT, you can't paint outside in the current conditions, as you'll...

Perhaps staging collisions is an NYMR attempt to provide something different and bring in the crowds. It would be a USP as I don't think any other railway does it. ;);)

The introduction of the Sprinter Dmu to operations had caught my eye and spurred me on to organise a half term trip to the Mid Hants with some of my grandchildren. We had such a fantastic time that a return visit was organised for the next day...

The only way to address this is by demonstrating how essential and useful the railway is to the local people and economy, and how there is a net positive impact for the environment. I am afraid that we can suggest as many different iterations of...

That’s your opinion and it is different to mine. The only way we will know is if an application is made and determined. But, I think you’re not reading the room. The stance of the ENPA and local residents is clear. A refusal would be a logical...
