7714 has had its old grate completely removed, a new grate fully rebuilt, and is back in steam. It will re-enter traffic this afternoon. A superb effort by ESMP and the Bridgnorth staff.

And given the number of families I saw it did a good job at that, mine included at 3 generations. The Auto Train BTW was a source of much fascination from my daughter (age 13) to my mum (whose 68th birthday we celebrated on the railway). I also...

I would have to disagree I’m afraid. Branchlines was succesful, infact very succesful. It transformed what would have been a very average weekend of revenue, in to something extraordinary. It’s given us a platform to boost the event from next...

We left the lead 37 at Goathland presumably to help work the diner back. No issue with the loco failure, as I say I accept these things happen, totally understandable. To leave a packed train standing for 25 minutes without a single person...

Thanks, yes, I see. Proof of a PRoW for is a right for walkers to pass, not a change of use of the land from that authorised. Insistence on the sacrifice of a 3m width all along it, for example, sounds like to trying to do just that! Anyway,...

That particular phrase certainly had a degree of cut-through. Having said what I said, from what I have observed of the Planning Inspectorate in practice, evidence-based pragmatism does seem to be their modus operandi.

Visited the SVR on Wednesday for the first time in many years. Four trains were out: the black pannier 7714 on a rake of 7 Mark 1s; a class 45 on the Gresley set; 813 / 1450 on a GWR set (with one LMS carriage in the rake) all running full line;...
