I think there are people who have long associations with the railway waiting in he background who are at least willing to help or advise with forming a new, better management group. I don't regard myself as one, because work has meant living...

The first thing to do is build a consensus. Frankly, the tone of your posts on here are probably the single biggest seing factor for the current board. A continuous stream of frankly aggresssive personal attacks do not inspire confidence.

I'd start with a competent and clued-in management team.

In answer to your question, "probably not" is the answer! It seems likely that most people on the Trust/Plc boards and SMT would be quaking in their "boots" (more likely to be of Gucci or Manolo Blahnik origin!)

Heritage railways, as I keep trying to convince people - unsuccessfully, apparently - are not, fundamentally, businesses. Yes, they have business-like aspects - in that income has to exceed expenses, they have employees and assets, etc - but...

In addition to what I have previously written, I think there are some glaring mistakes in @FredKerr's last post. Whilst it is true that the NYMR, like most heritage railways benefits mostly from non-enthusiasts filling the fare box, it still...

I have to disagree with your analysis. Whilst agreeing that heritage railways need to diversify their offering, it is all too easy for lines like the NYMY to shy away from offering anything but a standardised offering of BR Mk1s and BR/LMS...

I think that two of those up for re-election - and one in particlar (naming no names!)- carries as much responsibility for the current straits the NYMR finds itself in. Unless another of them is a volunteer at Goathland, I have never really...

We could always send the CEO to St Micheals Mount, like the one from the Valley did, only to leave a few weeks later. Even better a friend on the trust broad has just told me 3 of the long term members (John Bruce, John Bailey and Chairman Jerry...
