That is where the two of our perspectives differ materially, in terms of where the emphasis lies between the regulator and organisations wishing to operate. While we both agree on the fundamentals of risk assessment, etc., there is then a...

So much froth. It's a one sided business. The ORR says nothing except the ruling from ages ago that other TOCs have honoured. WCR says what it wants to try and keep faith with the public. That's all we know.

Yes, the statement from WC has a strong element of "the Jacobite would commence tomorrow but the ORR won't let us". The truth being ORR has made the conditions for what WC wish to do explicit for several years and WC has resisted until the point...

I really hope that all that has happened today doesn't put LSL off doing unassisted steam again.

No, but it would happen within a timescale agreed to by the ORR and applicant of a temporary derogation. I really hope we see mk1s running in Fort William this year, have no grudge against West Coast having travelled on many of their trains in...

Quite. But the fact that it has been published in this way suggests a growing confidence that a resolution can be reached. That is the uncertainty, and why celebrations are as yet premature

My point was that WC had already said, some weeks ago, that they had conceded CDL had to be fitted if they wanted to run mk1s. That is the sum of agreement with ORR so isn't, in fact, anything new. Like many people I was glad that WC had finally...

Except that the discussion wasn't just "whether" but also "under what terms". Part A has been answered, but part B remains unclear - and based on everything that ORR have said before, is critically important detail.

Because Harry, as enthusiasts we give a damn. A number of people on here (myself included) have stated we have not booked a West Coast operated trip for a number of years. The reasons to any enthusiast are obvious. No one is denying that we had...

Which takes me back to a comment on here a few months ago - West Coast and RTC are in some way 'linked', which precludes them from looking elsewhere. I don't know how or in what format - but it means that RTC are far more open to the effects of...

They should have a chat with Vintage Trains who seem to have a good selection of routes they can send their Castles! ;)

If my sources are correct which I’d say they are 80% reliable - 46100 and 34046 fall in to the “very well worn out” catergory. 45231 resided in the workshop in Crewe in October with minor bits removed (I had seen a photo of that), with the King...
