I believe that a gala or two are in the works. Dwarves of Steam was extremely popular - so much so it almost caught us out! The diesel gala was very well received. In other news, our staff gave 76017 a full clean last Saturday. We've been very...

I think the idea that the objectors are only opposed to a terminus is questionable - at least some of the objectors are opposed to the railway in any form. One such (at least) is a landowner who would have to be persuaded or compelled to sell to...

Breva vond James Hewett's post leuk in het topic Southwold Railway.
Yep - would be "interesting", although just owning it doesn't solve planning - the Southwold Railway Trust have owned a very nice half-mile of trackbed at Wenhaston for years - I helped to clear and fence it - but SRT have never been allowed to...

I am an L&B Trust member, but my personal opinion is that we need a base on the outskirts of Barnstaple (with good road connectivity, car parking and storage space) before trying to build a railway in the south. If we can get that, then I'm all...

Oh James, I'm so sorry. 3m? That's not a footpath, it's a road. How fat are these people? And between 1929 and now, they never even thought about it. It's mean, petty and parochial pearl-clutching of the first order.

I think things are more optimistic than that, but I agree this is the hour before dawn. The arguments are beginning to slacken off, and there are changes in leadership that suggest a different path is possible at Woody Bay. Meanwhile, the...

I used to think that, but I rather worry that Parracombe may be the L&B's Passchendaele - vital, yet impossible to reach. I'm not clear what the marketing proposition for an L&B south would be. But, scenically, I prefer the section south of...

Surely constructing several replica MWs just intends to adresss the need when the full railway is opened, and assumes that the (then ) intended extension to Blackmoor Gate will open. If progress at the upper end is slower than anticipated, then...

Indeed, it can. But like most relationships, you get out of it what you put in. And if the relationship is giving less (e.g. Moors Line changes) but demanding more (e.g. price rise), then the outcome is likely to be predictable.

'The money' People donated because they wanted a new build MW. They did not give money to the operating company with 'here, do what you want with this'. 'The money' easily redirectable seems to crop up quite often. ' Why did the KESR...
