I am sure that all CHR members want to see the station building back doing what it was built for and this must be the long term goal. However short term we are fully stretched to deliver what has been promised and funds obtained for. I think...

Or... Purchase the house, rent it out as a holiday let. Then convert two carriages that sit in the platform on the house side to also be holiday accommodation, and use the other track as a through to get to the new station. And the income from...

I hope their next project would be a lovely 4-6-0 engine like this one!;) https://scontent-arn2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/13995373_10208842692657152_4534337330123519326_o.jpg?_nc_cat=0&oh=50ae822b8fcd3742b603f78022041403&oe=5BB16D56 Knut:)

An LMS 2P to original spec with bypass valves and bogie brakes etc. is apparently a pretty good loco - at least according to David L. Smith the GSWR boys got some very good work out of them. They would be entirely adequate for most lines. And not...

Presumably the fact that the loco returned to Euston later the same day suggest it didn't suffer any debilitating failures during it's speed run? Another pretty impressive display of engineering, wasn't Mallard damaged during it's famous run?...

That's a distinct possibility. I also think that an oily rag may have been used. However I don't think that Bittern when repainted as Silver Link ever made it to Kings Cross. Here she is at York (not my photo), showing a distinct lack of...

Well, on that front you can look to 82045 for the logic behind it. A newbuild engine is easier to maintain and look after than something that's wondering when its bus pass is going to arrive in the mail... I suppose one thing to consider for...

I like the way that you say GWR fans are lining up with their wallets, yet speaking to the LMS patriot projects chairman (who is more of a GWR fan than LMS) and is heavily involved in the GW county 4-6-0, 4-4-0 and friends with people from the...

  13. Gav106 liked Jamessquared's post in the thread LMS 2P 4-4-0.

The GWR new builds do seem obsessive about filling in every last loco from the mid twentieth century while studiously ignoring a period of the company’s history that is completely unrepresented, i.e. nineteenth century standard gauge locos....

Only just seen this, but as others have said; rubbish! For a start it's free publicity, so no money down the drain. You're unlikely to be overhauling a loco whilst sat at home in the evening with a drink and your laptop, which is I suspect when...
