The attached image artwork has appeared in the digital version of Railway Magazine that came out today... I suspect it's not long before Holly Bank No. 3 is officially confirmed in this case. A nice illustration - matches some other recent SVR...

I definitely escaped the worst of the day's rain with my morning trip. It looked horrendous, my thanks and admiration to John, Shep and Nige for braving the elements and posting some excellent images, despite the conditions. In the past I have...

Yesterday i was originally just going to go to Hellifield to see Blue Peter pass, but due to weather forecast of heavy rail in decided to head to Carlisle, (which as it happened was a good choice as i have seen videos of it pouring with rain at...

[ATTACH] The S&C really did itself proud weather wise today, wind, rain and plenty of it greeted the inaugural 'Fellsman' rail tour headed by No. 60532 'Blue Peter' as it worked 1Z46 away from Helwith Bridge over the River Ribble heading for...

With torrential rain off and on all day, most of my shots today were, in my opinion, below par. Below are the best of a mediocre bunch. https://www.flickr.com/photos/90397953@N02/55312687859/in/photostream/...

After last week's heatwave we came back to normality with a bump. The weather forecast for today was not good, in fact it was bad, with rain forecast for much of the day. Would the weather gods be kind? Probably not! Would Oswald be able to...

Unfortunately I think there remains a gap between what Carnforth PR says and the reality of operations on the ground. The facts remain that West Coast own the paths out of Fort William, they remain (uniquely) resourced to operate the Jacobite....

Another month has flown by with some more progress. Work has continued at LMS on the cylinder cladding, made some years ago we decided it needed some tweaking for a better fit. The two new sand boxes have had the sand traps fitted up and soon we...

I think the fact that WC have fitted more early MK2 stock with CDL and sent a full rake to Scotland shows great progress and a clear intention. I also think that it’s a good train to send as it’s air only so works well with the 5s. I’m glad to...

I don't have your experience of older designs Tom but concur that the 4MTT is the finest of the bunch. Did 42085 visit Bluebell or am I misremembering? As far as your experience of a Black 5 goes, I don't know which it was but I think you must...

Thank you Tom for a more hopeful report on 80100 than the person I spoke to at last year's Giants of Steam, who told me that it may end up being nothing more than a source of spares to keep 80151 running. I very much hope not. It never worked on...
