  1. Musket The Dog liked Mark Thompson's post in the thread Lynton and Barnstaple - Operations and Development.

Whilst I understand that people's energy has to be released in some direction, and not remain bottled up, this current debate about rolling stock etc. has left me baffled. I have my own ideas about how the railway "should" be recreated, but they...

  2. Musket The Dog liked J Rob't Harrison's post in the thread Most interesting short heritage line..

Chasewater is a great little line. It's cut off by the M6 Toll at each end, so not going any further unless a friendly millionaire bankrolls rebuilding in another direction toward Wimblebury and Chase Terrace. Despite that, in 2 miles or so...

  6. Musket The Dog liked alexl102's post in the thread North Yorkshire Moors Railway General Discussion.

Whatever your (understandable) preference for pre-BR era stock, you cannot argue that British Rail Mark 1 coaches are not 'heritage' as you have a couple of times. They are the same age as the BR Standard class locos and only a few years younger...

  7. Musket The Dog liked meeee's post in the thread FR & WHR & WHHR News.

It's worth noting that it's now 20 years since the FR decided to go back to coal firing and this is the first time the service has actually been dieselised for any length of time. A lot of the recent issues have been fuel specific. On welsh...

  8. Musket The Dog liked tony51's post in the thread Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway.

This thread seems to be taking place in a parallel universe. Back in reality, there are two working steam locos available for the next two years. Hopefully the fundraising for Countess is successful (contributions welcome!) and she can return as...
