There seems to be a misinterpretation that "too large for normal services" means "we don't want it". What the article is meant to highlight is getting a balance between locos with "star" power to interest Joe Public, and the economical ones...

I've not seen this article, but the impression I had before was that it was planned to get 41312 in once 75079 is done - I hope so, as, like you say, she's a very popular loco - and my personal favourite of the fleet, hence my avatar!
