78018 is seen double heading with 78019 on it's last run before being withdrawn for overhaul, hopefully it's back in the not to distant future. [ATTACH]

Sorry but you've misunderstood my suggestion. Get permission to Parracombe. Start building it at KL, and get as far as that bridge done, and up to passenger carrying standard before going any further. At that point you are perhaps 3-5 years into...

My two pence: The most important currency to build at present is that of credibility. Both within and without the heritage railway movement the overall project skates on thin ice at present. Only the B&YVRT has been in consistent “positive”...

No, I agree... but giving objectors such easy targets to object to just seems counter-productive to me. Especially when you have a local plan, which already says what you can do, and which your application will be judged against.

It was, but the objectors also gained traction because of all the nonsense about putting in a sector table. Notwithstanding the fact that it obviously wasn't communicated clearly what that meant in practical terms, it could have been avoided...

Same conclusion I came to two and a half years ago. (See post #10921.) You wouldn't need to demolish it any time soon though. Get permission to do so, build the extension up to just short of it, and just keep renting it out until such time as...

I've followed the trials and tribulations of the L&B restoration for a number of years now. Having visited Woody Bay a few years ago, I was impressed by what I found and would dearly love to see it extended. Looking at the recent discussions, it...

The GCR (Leics.) was once home to Barnums 664 & 666; 664 was externally restored and operated a few times as an empty shell (I believe it even once housed a board meeting on the move); 666 the NRM example just sat around. They also saved suburban...

The value of that business case can be seen from what we have now. A report, never published and never acted upon, using data and assumptions that are now 30 years old, is worth less than the paper it’s printed on. And that’s taking the view that...

Quite. A theme park and a steam railway are two very different attractions. Having somewhere for kids to be able to run off steam is an excellent idea, but otherwise the place has to have confidence in what it is.

I'm glad you think so, because in my experience directors and trustees of heritage railways, across the country, are almost all volunteers. Managers is another matter; if you need someone to run the thing 7 days a week then it stands to reason...
