    The next problem is when it is too wet and the cracked dry soil can't absorb the water which erodes the cracks and leaves a wet slurry as a lubricant at the bottom of the slope ...... I seem to recall that was part of the problem with the earth...

    Cost and time are obvious reasons for a loco that is mid ticket. If a loco is in for some intermediate repair, patching a black livery and swapping a tender logo is one thing that is fairly easy but gives a “reset” for visitors, photographers...

    It is the default route if a loco fails on a railtour in Wessex or Sussex. It's a head on run via Kensington and the Poplar Incline, therefore no need to find another loco to haul the ECS out out of Victoria or Waterloo. Cheers, Neil
