Another month and some more updates. At LMS the midweek team have fitted the two sandboxes and await the 4 filler chutes which are being fabricated back at Toddington. The rear cylinder cladding is nearing completion and then hopefully the LHS...

Plus I see little in the trip, if anything, that could be "cloned" from one of the regular itineraries, unless on the free day it ends up using the existing Jacobite path. So all 8 days likely will need to be planned on the intensive network. The...

The turntable was made operational again in October and was used to release one of the LNERCA carriages during the multitude of moves they were doing in the latter third of last year. If its gone awry again since then that would be bad luck, but...

Is the Pickering turntable back in use again? It certainly was awaiting repairs at the back end of last season and if it cannot be used then we are stuck with the locos facing as they are now. Current instructions are that the steam loco is to be...

Who on here has a grudge about the NYMR.? I certainly don’t I do have a strong concern about how the railway is being run and the direction it is going in, as do a significant number of others, including volunteers and paid staff.

While I can see many reasons to criticise the leadership of the NYMR, I feel such criticism should always stay on the right side of criticising the actions, not the people. I think this post rather crosses the line, and in doing so weakens rather...

As a ball park figure I reckon on 1.5 tons for a round trip from Pickering to Whitby and back with a standard 7 coach train. My guessing stick makes that a round 70 lb/mile. I once recorded a well-known Bluebell driver on a firing trip between...

I think you need to see this from the customers perspective. This is an experience business. As far as I know the NYMR are still charging full price despite only offering a shortened length. If most of the customers have then come to see a steam...

I think the point cksteam was making was that there is a turntable available at Pickering - so if 29 needs to be at the North End of the train for watering (makes perfect sense given the locatio of water towers at Pickering and Goathland) why not...

Fish (Haddock) and small chips is £8.50 in my nearest chippy. (Ordinary chips is too large a portion.) I can get it for less but have to do a 5 mile round trip. Anyhow, getting back on topic, the vibes I'm getting are that the bridge propping...

My local sells its pizzas at £12-13 depending on what and a pint of bitter at £4.20. £7.50 for a pint is for down south.:)

Still a handful of tickets left according to the A1st - a look at the issued timings really shouldn't leave any fence sitters in doubt this will be a cracking trip. Steam mileage wise this is back to the glory days of 10 or 15 years ago.
