  1. SpudUk liked 30854's post in the thread Recreations of Narrow Gauge Passenger Vehicles.

The late Ted Wade's research into the history of the Plynlimon & Hafan Tramway threw up two odd NG vans, still extant 45 years ago in a field near Borth. Neither could conclusively be shown to have anything to do with any known railway in the...

Internal Fire - Museum of Power

There are three narrow gauge locos at the Museum of Power in Ceredigion, a 2' 6" Wingrove and Rogers battery loco (3805 I think), and two Ruston and Hornby locos, 229633 (2ft) and 210691 (1m). Does anyone know the history of these three?

IIRC it was built only to enable the construction of the reservoir. Came across the "stone and steam" book quite by chance whilst working on a renovation in the area.

I never knew there had been a narrow gauge railway at Grwyne Fawr. Makes me wonder what other narrow gauge railways in South Wales existed that I don't know about...

Well, not really ideal, because unlike at Parracombe this is the original station building. There must be at least a small hope that one day in the dim and distant future it could serve that purpose again? Looking at the internal photos, it seems...

In the sales blurb about local attractions the railway does not even get a mention and it's right on the doorstep....literally!

If you can find one please let us know! Despite many contacts over a long period it has not been possible to find an agreement at this time. What funds there are have been invested in the TWAO (£40K) and the Weston extension. Our membership is...

For those asking: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-54848055.html Seems to make a lot of sense to try and acquire it. Gobowen to Llynclys is a solid run with an original station as a terminus. Surely the CHR has a wealthy...

Ding dong! I'm right in thinking you can't volunteer at Brecon, it's employees only?

Do you at least accept that that is only your personal opinion and other people may prioritise different aspects of heritage differently?

  11. SpudUk liked marty's post in the thread Edmonson tickets a lost "cause" for ever?.

Sounds very much like epos salesmen have done a very good job at some railways convincing them of all the data extras they "need" to "compete". Really, if you see your heritage railway as nothing more than a tourist business there are many other...

  12. SpudUk liked flying scotsman123's post in the thread Edmonson tickets a lost "cause" for ever?.

I don't understand much about ticketing and the pros and cons of either, all I do know is that some of the biggest heritage railways and some of the smallest all manage to make Edmondson tickets work in one form of another (even if it's just a...

Sorry Paul, but a lot of that simply isn't the case. Advance tickets have been sold for many years in many places with no EPOS in sight. How many lines make you book a particular return seat? Short lines that go nowhere might be sure people...

Actually, further to that I gather the STR owns Lambley and Alston Arches viaducts - clear intent in that respect then

Track bed is complete until the A69, so no reason it's not do-able. Some very big bridges on that section though!
