Press releases announcing a departure are normally notoriously dull affairs , scripted with all the stock phrases that leave you reading between the lines and pondering what happened This one had the one line in , and whether at us or elsewhere...

Oh! Are you sure about that Ken? Mr Castledine seems to be more of an Ops man than an engineer from a brief read of his CV. Unless there's another appointment imminent, or he is nonetheless taking on responsibility for these more engineer-y...

So to what are you privy then Ken? Best wishes with your health incidentally, it is challenging when you get to our age as I have found myself! Thoughts of sleeping in a damp caravan or on the floor of Harry Lee's camper van at Barry or on the...

Surely the Locomotive Superintendent and Infrastructure portfolios remain unfulfilled unless Mr Castledine is expected to undertake responsibility for those as well? It would have been nice to be told exactly which Director is now Responsible...

Having remained silent at the meetings I attended it is indeed unfortunate that he should say such things. Had he been closer to the railway I think he might have departed without comment. That would have said an awful lot more!

and now Bob Meanley's resignation is confirmed http://www.wsr.org.uk/plc-board-31-jul-2020.pdf and without a change of date! So why all the intrigue?

Hopefully this will be more than just a snow-covered 'living museum' event at MD, but at least it would hide any remaining weeds :-)

On the face of it, that seems like an extremely suitable appointment. Fingers crossed. It would perhaps be helpful if it was outlined exactly what his responsibilities will be, as his list of skills covers quite a wide range! And on a personal...
