https://www.justgiving.com/page/barrytobewdley A special little fundraiser going on here for 2857. August 2025 will mark 50 years since 2857 was brought from Woodham’s scrapyard in Barry to Bewdley on the Severn Valley Railway. Now 50 years...

Has been trialled before, or a very similar style and it doesn’t work quite so well, particularly not for a line that doesn’t have that wow factor. Our little SVR is lovely, but it’s not like Snowdon where it climbs the mountain, or Ffes where it...

Ah right. Yeah GBRF are the ones running it. An effective English/Welsh version of the Royal Scotsman

Not quite sure why this is in the WCR Tours thread but….. These aren’t gauging test runs. These are testing for timings, staff training, etc. A mock run if you like

Could be a fair bet on the 8F maybe? Although 0 headcode would suggest diesel

Wouldn’t matter either way as they all get timed at 60

But often 2/3 steam on a normal Wednesday at the SVR doesn’t produce that surplus. If we ran 2/3 steam we’d raise the cost, and likely not actually bring that much more in revenue. When we are full line we run B timetables on a Saturday 2 Steam/1...

Times were in RTT and have since been removed so would suggest cancelled. Interstingly it had extra pathing stops this year on both legs making it more chase-able than usual

Only steam locos available for service at BDY are 75069 and 7812. Well 1450 will be too but not suitable for the service. 4930 and 13268 will be moving/are in the process of being moved to Kidderminster but by the time they are both down and...

Which is exactly what I was saying…..??? My exact words “Where else will they find a loco owner who consistently lets at least two of his engines work up there year in, year out” I don’t get why that’s been met with a “but” given your...

Nail on head Harry. The target audience for The Jacobite is very different to the rest of the railtour market. And anyone who thinks that people won't notice the difference clearly hasn't met a Harry Potter fan and is severely misjudging the...

Incorrect. It is referenced multiple times on the WCR website.

The main problem here is the fact it doesn’t look like the Harry Potter train. That’s where most of the reviews are coming in as poor. And the fact is only WCR can really provide that. LSL coaches are blood and custard so they don’t fit the bill,...

I suspect it wouldn’t make a difference. The LSL pricing point would be higher compared to WCR, and the stock they have doesn’t lend itself to the operation being all FOs. Mayflower hauling might make a difference for about a week with...
