Although there are a number of threads relating to Industrials, I strikes me that this forum (particularly the loco updates) is dominated by the big, the black and the impractically large...!!!

Lets hear some updates on what people are doing with the real work horses... I have to confess my website is a little out of date (I'll try and update it), but it's a start and I'd love to hear what's happening to other locos all over the country...

What are you doing, what are your plans, what help do you need???

Come on chaps lets show these mainline men that we're not just a minor annoyance taking up the corners of sheds all over the country!!!

Thanks for the link to the BRC stockbook page on Firefly (Punch Hull as was)!

Good to see the progress you are making.

I'll try to remember to put a link back to your site when I'm next updating my site.

Does anyone know what's going on with Avonside 0-6-0ST no.24 "Stamford"?

    Actually yes...

The loco is currently on load to Rutland Railway Museum but is stored off site, awaiting shed space at Cottesmore.
She should be transported to Cottesmore in the very near future where the Museum will take on the task of completing her restoration.
Hopefully she will then take pride of place along side the growing list of ex-ironstone locos which the museum has managed to aquire.

    Re: Industril Loco Updates!!

Heres an update from the middleton:
M.S.C 67 out of service with a broken piston ring. It caused some damage to the piston itself and the repair we made to the cracked cylinder. Also when we took the piston out we only found half of the piston ring left!! (I was firing when it blew the ring out. We found a bit of the piston ring on top of the tank!!!)
1601 - mathew murray out of service when the joint on the main steam pipe failed when it was last in service. The pipe was reinstalled on saturday waiting for one of the ends to be expanded.
1210 - Sir Berkeley In steam boiler in spection this week, before a return to service (going away for NRM special weekend and to kwvr 40th do)
Brookes no1 - on light duties seing out its 10 year ticket as bottom end is worn.
Hawthorn Leslie no6- overhaul progresing when time availible - recently a device has been made to that the brass bearings can be white mettaled.
Currently most of the recent time has being spent on 67 and 1601 trying to get these back in service as brookes is not the most reliable thing to run and when writing is the only steam loco running!!

Anyone know the status of Barclay 945 of 1904 "ex-Annie", last seen at Chatham Dockyard in horrible BR black with western bits bolted on?

    Re - Meteor

I am not directly involved (I'm not really into Industrials at all), however it is probably no secret that the loco is dismantled, with the frames having seen a fair amount of work to rectify wear and corossion damage etc.

The boiler is mounted on a well trol for easy of access and has had the inner box removed - I believe the intention is fit a new one.

The wheels are away at the SDR for re-tyring and various other parts are in progress (e.g. spring repairs etc).

Photo of Annie at Chatham on Easter Sunday. Not the best shot in the world but it was snowing/sleeting/raining and I was trying to stay dry. Plus I'd forgotten to charge my camera so only managed a few shots that day. It's still got a bunker and is still in unlined Riley livery! Vac brake is still fitted but pipes have been removed.

    Re: Industril Loco Updates!!

The current new on Jennifer up at Llangollen is that she'll be steam tested in a month or so and then final assembly will take place. At the moment all the bit's that go on her are being test fitted so that when she's steam tested they'll be able to quickly reassemble her ready for hiring out. Then work might start on Austin 1 but i think they'll wait till the pannier that's under overhaul is out before they start taking another engine to bits as we don't really have a lot of room in the shed at the moment.

    Re: Industril Loco Updates!!

Don't know if it helps as everyone probably knows but hergoes.

68011 Errol Lonsdale on SDR at rear of Buckfastleigh site and awaiting a heavy general overhaul

132 Sapper Alison Joseph (AKA Sapper) on SDR in Totnes bay siding and awaiting a heavy general overhaul

Glendower on SDR in Private Sheds in the process of having a heavy general overhaul and is therefore minus a boiler.

1 Ashley on SDR at rear of Buckfastleigh site and awaiting a heavy general overhaul but has had a cosmetic overhaul and has been repainted

Lady Angela is also on SDR at rear of Buckfastleigh site and I believe out of service due to a fault she developed last year on 06.05.07 during the Thomas weekend

    Hope it helps
