Alongside filming Black 5 44871 on the Polar Express shuttles out of Euston, Eddystone is seen at Twyford on her outward run, and Cholsey on the return, going at a great pace:

Popped out last night to see Eddystone return to London and was going very well indeed as it passed through Chippenham ready to attack Dauntsey Bank. Our 26 year old son was with me and said he's never seen anything like it, and now wants to do a main line steam run - so I'd better get booking.

YouTube clip attached, nothing fancy just the night shot at Chippenham

Presumably the rebuilt Bulleid had a quick rebuild into an LM 5 en route!

.....not to mention a Class 5 'hauling' a 13 coach train plus a Class 47 diesel. Clearly the Santa appeal drives the train capacity.

Here's my quick shot of 34028 Eddystone thundering and whistling through Keynsham last night with the return leg. I hope you enjoy it

I don't suppose the children, who the train is run for, are concerned, care, or even know that the steam loco is being assisted, so what's the problem?

Thanks to him a whole nation learned to spell the name of a place nobody had heard of.

I wonder if any of them ever win more on the pools than they paid to him?

Thanks very much Alistair - funnily enough I thought it myself when I planned the shot, but never upto the standard of the master!

There isn't a problem and I never said there was. Just describing what you could see and observing that a train of this length is clearly because of the Santa appeal (and that is good).

Honestly Ralph, perhaps I should warn you and one or two others in advance if my post needs explaining as there seem to be a few who spend their time looking for something that isn't there....
