Indeed. Now the rumours start of a "final" flight of XH558 in the company of the Lancaster.

Did anyone see the recent Antiques Roadshow from Coningsby when Roy Chadwicks daughter showed a collection of drawings and doodles on newspapers showing his ideas for the Vulcan.

Whats really interesting is how the aircraft industry changed in such a very short time, from the design of the Manchester, which was the platform for the lancaster, to that of the Vulcan in under what by design standards was a very short time

It's a good job B. Waste of Space wasn't around at the time or we'd still be waiting for something that worked!

War time does wonders for bringing on new ways to kill people, we started the 1914 with fabric covered Biplanes, and ended the second war years later with Jet fighter aircraft, capable of reaching speeds un heard of, and a weapon that could take out a whole city on its own , we the world found new more deadly ways to kill more people , in more inhumane ways,

This was on the BBC Lincolnshire news page today.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-34903380

World War two veterans have gathered to watch the UK premiere of a film about the last two airworthy Lancaster bombers.

"Reunion of Giants" tells the story of the Canadian aircraft, Vera, during its visit to the the UK in 2014.

It gave a series of displays alongside the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's Lancaster.

The film was premiered on Monday in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, the home of the617 "Dambusters" Squadron.

The reunion is believed to be the final time the two aircraft will fly together because of their age and condition.

Age and condition has nothing to do with it. They are both in tip top condition and pretty much as good as new. The distance between them and the cost of crossing that gap is the main reason they may not fly together again.

On the KPF forum today there are reports that another TWO Canadian Lancasters could be restored to airworthy, plus there is the former G-BCOH with Mr Weeks in Florida.

Yes, too risky. We'll have to sink the 'Tirpitz' again instead? :)
