    I heard a rumour or something I was told third hand that a saddle tank type loco was stored privately in an old wood yard on the Penshurst to Edenbridge road in Kent, but nearer the Penshurst end. I took a ride down there found the wood yard which was mainly coppice wood but no sign of any loco, does anyone know or heard similar.

    Does anyone know where 3612s frames ended up. WOuld love to find these in the undergrowth....

    When the cylinder block arrived at Llangollen for 7754, it still had the sections of frame either side of it, which had been cut just behind the block. I presume that the rest of the frame was cut up at some stage.

    That is what happened, the rest of the frames were cut at the time.

    Its the only wood yard between Penshurst and Edenbridge.

    New member so be gentle with me. Re the engine that went off the turntable road at Garsdale / Hawes Junction and whose chimney was excavated some years ago. The chimney was until recently in the waiting room at Appleby Station. It is to be gently restored at FoSCL's workshop in Settle.Preview attachment Chimney.jpgChimney.jpg3.6 MB shows it at Appleby. Its size indicates a Johnson or Kirtley 4-4-0, S&C mainstays around the turn of C20. Does anybody have details of the incident please?
