Dropped my bint off at York station this morning and managed to get a couple of point & squirt shots of "Guardsman" leaving.

Lovely photos (as usual !!) especially as they weren't 'set up'. Just a point; all the station lights on ??? dark up there at 9 in the middle of summer ?????? lol

 

Not many bodies on board leaving York.
The dog in the lead coach seemed to be enjoying barking at everybody though.

Even with a modest 7 coach load, the crews were not taking it easy yesterday, and performance was the name of the game. I calculate that she was doing 57 at Shotlock and 49 at Birkett Tunnel - wonderful given that Birkett is often considered to be the slowest part of the climb, and that she was heading into a strong south-westerly.
