SNIBSTON: "Oh no there isn't"! "Oh yes there is"!

As a former curator there who had a lot to do with making it what it is, it wil be a sad day if it does close.

It is railway heritage there, as well as "everything else". I laid a lot of the track with the Coaltracks team back in 2000.

 

Sad times - spent many happy days there with our kids years ago, and more recently with friends at special events. One friend is an ex-miner, who finds all the machinery fascinating, as do I as my late father's company manufactured some of it. Plus all the rail related exhibits too of course!

For the greater good I'd rather they kept Snibston open than built an NRM outpost at the GCR. However the two not necessarily linked to the same budget I believe.

 

Exactly, one is in LeicesterSHIRE and under the county council, the other is with Leicester CITY council. I'll let you work out which is which

It would have been a waste of money anyway, politicians and bureaucrats running museums never works, look at the dreadful riverside museum in Glasgow or the way 46235 is now exhibited in Birmingham.
