I am not sure where 1744 is at the moment...I thought I heard it was at Tysley having some repairs. SR this month reports there is a plan to certify it for ML working specifically for Sheringham to Cromer, but I don't know any more than what I have read. I just know it's not currently at the GC.

Oh I did see the cover of steam railway magazine saying about the N2 being mainline soon, I was thinking what loco would replace 76084 on the dining trains, but seeing the N2 on the cromer - sheringham would be a lovely sight.

There's an interesting piece in Steam Railway about Repton being the first Schools to run on the big railway since Cheltenham ran at L & M 150 - but what about all the running to Whitby and Battersby that it did in the course of its last ticket???

That's a point, maybe its because we class that as being a part of the NYMR, but seeing it on the big railway would be a treat.

Did it run on the EVL? I can't remember it doing so but happy to be told I'm wrong.

Could have sworn it did, but perhaps my memory is playing tricks! I thought I had a footplate ride to Whitby on it!

Repton did run on the EVL, not only to Whitby but she did go to Battersby. There are videos on Youtube., this one being my favorite.

Funnily enough I thought the same thing! There was even a photo of it at Battersby used in the picture puzzle.

I understand it has returned to Butterley for a bit of Winter fettling, but is then expected to return to Bury in the Spring.

Was pondering which pre-grouping locos would be operating in pre-grouping liveries in 1917 (for previous discussion see http://www.national-preservation.com/threads/pre-1916-locos-in-steam-in-2016.652267/).
Here's what I came up with:
    Caley 0-4-4T N° 419 on Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway (hopefully back in 2017)
Caley 0-6-0 N° 828 at the Strathspey (hopefully back in 2017)
SECR C Class 0-6-0 N° 592 at the Bluebell (will bow out during 2017)
SECR O1 Class 0-6-0 N° 65 at the Bluebell (hopefully back during 2017)
    SECR H Class 0-4-4T N° 263 at the Bluebell
    SECR P Class 0-6-0T N° 178 at the Bluebell
SECR P Class 0-6-0T N° 323 “Bluebell” at the Bluebell (honourable mention: is blue so not SECR livery shade but otherwise SECR livery, see Bluebell Matters thread).
GER 209 Class 0-4-0ST Coffee N° 229 (returning 2017 at the Flour Mill?)
GNR N2 Class 0-6-2T N° 1744 at the GCR (on loan to NNR?)
    GER Y14 Class 0-6-0 N° 564 on NNR
Taff Vale Railway 0-6-2T N° 85 on KWVR
LNWR 0-6-2T Coal Tank N° 1054 on KWVR
    NER H Class 0-4-0T N° 1310 at Middleton
    Furness 0-4-0 N° 20 at Shildon
Any corrections? I've excluded narrow gauge and industrial.
It is noticeable how few there are, even including probable returns, and how concentrated in a few locations.
Anyone fancy a repaint of their centenarian into a lovely colourful livery to spice things up? (Of course many of the rest of the pre-grouping locos running in 2017 are probably in LNWR livery...)

that's about 90 locos and many sites haven't been listed....that's pretty impressive.
