    Those "Norborough" signs caused a weekend of confusion. The set dressers turned up early and the signs went up covering Ropley signs. There were more than a few puzzled passengers wondering if they had mis-read the timetable! :)

    Could be but I know that through my Father who worked at the Surrey police MT garage just outside Guildford for a number of years that the Mk4s were 3 litre V6 Zodiacs, the 2 litre V4s and 2.5litre straight six engines were Zephyrs.

    Given that in the original Morse, he used to be able to drive without holdup through the centre of Oxford and then just park at will without difficulty more or less at will anywhere in the centre of town, I think a couple of years slippage on phasing out steam is the least of your worries when it comes to suspension of disbelief!
