West Somerset Railway - Removal of the PLC Chairman and related matters

Well this is what can happen when you let someone in who you think is a knight in shining armour and turned out to be not what it was they thought it was.

There is no "hole" in the PLC finances. As has been made clear previously, income over a long period and financial reserves are down, which means that any responsible company has to look at how to correct this, which is what is being done. The present Board members are not aware of any discussion to sell Odney Manor and it has not, to the best of our knowledge, ever been considered by the Board. There is no intention to consider it.

At no point was it envisaged that I would be a representative of the WSRA. It was always going to be that I would be a director in my own right, and this was quite clear to the PLC Chairman before I was co-opted. The Association were not informed as it would be reasonable to deduce that since I was elected to the board of the Association less than 3 weeks earlier there would be no objections. With hindsight this proved not to be the case.

Regarding the post, made a little while ago, no one seems to have identified, or hinted so far, who is or are the string pullers. Is it possible that the recent rumours also part of the subterfuge?

 

Most strange.......the post that started this thread and kicked off the, at times heated, discussion has vanished. Why would that be??

As noted by Frank, my posting was a personal view based on my reading of the various posts on this thread. If my understanding is incorrect I am happy to be corrected BUT since I have no connection with either the WSR or any of its bodies I can assure posters that my postings are personal views only.

 

The missing post was referred to by myself ( post #279) and others so if the author has removed it, he hasn't covered his tracks very well.

 

If you're referring to this post, it's still there; posts about the earlier WSRA board action were glued onto the front of the thread (since it's all apparently related; this keeps all the political kerfluffle in one thread).

Err, your post #279 referred to this post, which was not in fact the one that started the ball rolling on the removal of the PLC Chair (which is the one I gave above).

My apologies. For some reason I thought the post I referred to was the first one when the MODS created this thread. In fact, I referred to it as the first post in #279, which it was at the time. Have the Mods been tinkering??

edited to add: It would appear the Mods have transferred earlier posts relating to the WSRA into this thread hence the slippage of the post to which I was referring to page 5. It hasn't been deleted as I originally thought.

I and many others would also appreciate the same reassurance over 9351.

As for "no hole in the finances", can it be confirmed that money accrued for the restoration of our home fleet has not been diverted. If that money is no longer there then that would certainly be a hole in the finances.

 

Lets not go down the road of expecting Frank to deny sales loco by loco, or acre by acre, or to challenge every change in spend priorities as a black hole.

I doubt thats what people are doing individually but thats what it comes across as collectively.
