Yes, exactly that, although the WW&F turntable can do the whole roundy-roundy, which the proposed Parracombe sector table will not be able to do.
I wouldn't want that film being used to allay objectors fears though- between the (tedious) bell*, the generator droning and its steam outlet hissing and pouring smoke, I doubt it would have the ressuring effect that was hoped for.

*And I'm a fan of American narrow gauge steam, but those flaming bells....

Do you know that for certain?

AFAIK no decision has been made yet as to the exact form of 'pit' to be provided for it. Although its intended use is as a sector table, I can see that it might be useful on odd occasions for whatever reason to actually be able to turn an engine or item of rolling-stock thru' 180 degrees, so it may be deemed prudent by the-powers-that-be to build it with that capability in mind. But there again, PE may not end up with a TT anyway....

Reading between the lines I can't help but think that someone somewhere knows something big is about to happen that will have a long term viability about the whole L&BR project, it can't get this far for it to fail now, can it?

We all know that there is a major problem just after Parracombe station in terms of acquiring the trackbed. Is it known whether the owner concerned owns the land both side of the trackbed? If not, could there be a 'by-pass' around the tricky part?

I do not know for certain without further checking, but I believe that the 'owner concerned' only owns land on the east (up) side.

However I would suspect that not only would the topology of the hillside make it difficult to construct a deviation on the west (downhill) side, but also there would be a bit of a 'pinch point' trying to squeeze past the back of Ivy Cottage. Further more such a deviation might well be outside of the bounds of the land for which planning permission already exists from ENPA, hence necessitating yet another Sec 73 application.

Surely the bigger issue is that there is a large embankment over the River Heddon that you'll need to use or replace?

If - and it would be a big 'if' - the railway were to be able to buy a strip of land immediately adjacent to the west side of the existing stretch of disused trackbed that is 'not for sale', and that strip was suitable for use as a replacement trackbed (which is uncertain), then probably it could return to the original alignment before reaching Parracombe bank - which will be repaired/rebuilt under Phase 2A anyway.
