Is there any news or movements on the situation at Wolstyn? I am over that way for a few days this week and wondered if it is worth passing by.

The daily steam service won't be restarting anytime soon. April is a possibility so I was told yesterday.

The shed live webcam is a bit depressing this morning...
Don't know as I've ever seen all the shed doors closed during a weekday.

    http://www.kamery.wolsztyn.pl/kamera13.php

nothing stirs, the signal box facing webcam shows some coaches lined up on the turntable exit road.
Forum website says all services this week are operated by the DMU, last time anything operated was the 23rd November with an out/back to Poznan by ol49-69.
(ol49-59 is out of ticket next week and will require inspection, the pt47-65 overhaul at Chabowka is taking longer than expected, but will return with tender 34D74 from pt47-112).

Looks as if there are more working locomotives at Chabowka than Wolsztyn currently (Okz, Ty2, Ol12, ty42 and a tkt48), next thing there is new years eve to Zakopane, then Feb 28th.

Separaretly, but related Eu06-01 (the first EE built "class 83 lookalike" has been restored to heritage livery in Poland)

Excerpt from an e-mail I've just received.
"As we feared, the daily steam service out of Wolsztyn will not recommence this year - after three days of negotiation PKP and Wielkopolska region were unable to agree a deal, although both parties want the service to restart. The best we can now hope for is that steam returns in the summer."

Very sad, I have not made a trip out there, yet, but did try to organize one a few years back. Some of our mainline operations are getting almost to the standard of regularity they achieved so perhaps we can eventually emulate their heydays.

Thanks for the info. I should pass by on Wednesday so I will see if there is any movement. Such a shame and difference from only two years ago. Trust me to get a new project only 1 hour away after everything goes pear shaped, typical Parker planning...

Have just had a quick look at 09:00 on Tuesday 2/12/14 to see that there is an open door and a wisp of steam from the roof baffles; at least this shows progress but whether for main line running or simply a warm-up I can't say.

This is the 2016 timetable. Kind of strange not seeing anything to Poznan anymore,( there's only 4 round trip all year between Poznan and Wolsztyn - 1 charter in June and the One a month at the end of the year).

    Kwiecien is April.

    http://parowozy.com.pl/tur_kol/woltur_2016.jpg
Ol49-59 is currently in steam, it is the only working locomotive there.

After April 3rd, next is April 15th with two trips to Rakonwice.

    This years charters are here:

Most start in Poznan or the Coast and do various round robin tours, (unlike in the UK, some do actually advertise when there's a box on the back... Sometimes it's electric.)

    http://parowozy.com.pl/tur_kol/turkol_2016_str1.jpg
    http://parowozy.com.pl/tur_kol/turkol_2016_str2.jpg

    The annual parade:

Discussions suggest the parade in May only features 4 locomotives: ol49-59 from Wolsztyn, TY42-107, tkt48-191and Okz from Chabowka, Its unclear if the other ol49 from Leszno will be ready.

The pt47 was dragged out on its first test yesterday from overhaul at Chabowka.

I heard Lausiter dampflokclub may have pulled out of this years trip. The Berlin group never announced a train this year.

Parowozy.com.pl is a great site, been using it since the 1990s when I had to print it out and translate each word by hand to plan my visits..I heard the site owner is Mayor of Wolsztyn now.

Many thanks. I will take a look when I pass by next week. I could do with another Ol49 fix...

This picture looks encouraging.. (Taken march 31st), looks like the rebuild of pt47-65 is complete. (its supposed to be in the Apr 30th parade).

Doesn't look like Chabowka, more like Krakow Plaszow, if so... it could well be on it's way north.
(frustrating part is.. I just flew back from Krakow this evening and decided not to bother going to Chabowka this week !)

Latest update is regular services will restart from 15th May. Weekdays between Wolsztyn and Leszno, weekends between Wolsztyn and Poznan. Two return trips per day it seems.

Timetables available here, though whether they are correct is another matter.

2022 Parade not happening in May, engineering works by the looks of things.

Edit - there's also only one working loco, so that probably doesn't help either!

Interesting report into what's happening with various locos at Wolsztyn. Ol49-59, Ol49-69 and Pt47-65 all away for overhaul at present; the latter is due back in the summer. Tr5-65 is subject to fundraising for return to steam. Possibility of Ok1-359 being next. Pm36-2 and and Ok22-31 might be restored, but as they're both owned by Warsaw Station Museum there needs to be a legally binding agreement in place first. Some of the locos around the station will be cosmetically restored and repainted, but it looks like there's a good chance a few will be sold or scrapped.

So it turns out the frames from Ol49-59 are beyond repair and full of cracks, so the frames from Ol49-111 will be used instead. So the two Ol49s will both have received replacement frames but kept their original numbers (59 has 111's frames and 69 has 99's frames).

The first photo is impressive - bolted on brackets that have been welded on, and the welds have subsequently cracked.

Very sad news reported on the Wolsztyn Experience facebook page earlier this evening that Howard Jones has passed away.
