If WCR were to through wire or even better ETH fit that Mk1 RMB in the Green Train, it would be dual heated.
Then all they would need is a green ETH Crompton to re-create the Ocean Liner Expresses.
The stock would get more use, wich is only good for Mk2s.

I do get rather tired, trying to explain what WCR can offer, especially to those who think they know more about our stock and operations, than we do!

Most but not all of our Mk1s (and the Green set) are actually steam-heated. Where steam-heat is not possible, however, such as when air-braked Mk2s are included in a formation, we need to provide an eth source, which can either be the genny van, No. 6312, or an eth loco, on the rear.

Where we can avoid it, we prefer to form steam sets with Mk1s and not include a diesel on the rear, but we will never guarantee it, absolutely; there are also occasions, when operational or pathing needs dictate that a diesel needs be included, on the rear.

Given either a diesel or a rejection of a tour, I think the choice is obvious, to the majority; if the level and variety of steam operations are to continue, on the main line, compromises are necessary.

If Palace Gates and his pals don't like it, that's up to them.

    Adding a Diesel to what?

There you go, jumping to conclusions again!

I will state again; if the Green Train had working ETH, allowing its use with diesel locomotives, it could be used more during the winter months. Which can only be good for Mk2 coaches with their fussy pressure vent heating systems, that don't like sitting oround not being used.

So, where did I suggest adding a Diesel to a Steam tour????

I would just like to make one further point in that my reasoning is not against the tour operator. They have provided excellent trips over the years and at one time were pushing the boundaries as to what was being offered after Days Out collapsed. No, it is with the TOC who in my opinion change things at the last minuate.

Given the number of steam tours running this weekend, I'm impressed that there are still enough sets of coaches and experienced crews to operate them all. WCRC and the rest are going to be busy this weekend.
