    Hi all,

this year the narrow gauge railways in the Harz mountains will celebrate the 125th anniversary of the first route of today's network, the Gernrode to Mägdesprung section, today known as Selketalbahn. There will be all sorts of celebrations from April until September, including three guest vehicles: Two railcars of the Selfkantbahn and the Bruchhausen-Vilsen - Asendorf preserved railway and Mallet 105 from Blonay - Chamby in Switzerland. There are no exact dates but the railcars seem to be in the Harz in June, July and August, the Mallet in August only. See Alles ber Harzer Schmalspurbahnen GmbH (HSB) - Alles ueber Europas groesztes Dampfeisenbahnnetz for details, but in German only.

    Kind regards

    Christoph

No I do not currently volunteer
The Mallet's also booked on a weekend of photo charters in July too. Ooh, so tempting to book some flights!

You are more likely to regret not doing things than regret doing them!

Looking at the timetable there is a Photo charter [PhotoSonderZug] on July 15 which includes double-headed Mallets - 105 from Chombay and an HSB Mallet from 5901 / 5906; I note the prices are rising but still relatively good value given the declining strength of the Euro.
