Rumour has it that 'Mayflower' is no longer part of the Boden stable, and is off for a year's hire to the NNR. Any truth in this?

Time will tell. It will either turn up at the NNR or it won't.

Well, she did Mid-Norfolk duties last Summer. It would be nice as we all have said to see her do some mainline tours. New Owner

    North Norfolk, my mistake

The North Norfolk is going to be home to a fantastic fleet!

Mayflower is mainline registered, that'll be handy for trips to Cromer.

B12, Black 5, 9F, Standard 4, the WD and J15 returning to steam in (hopefully) the next year or two, and now a B1. To think about 20 years ago it was mainly an industrial saddle tank line!

Will be interesting to see how long the B1 is staying for, and will look great double heading with the B12

Has gone to the NNR for a year - scheduled to be arriving on Monday 18th August. The locomotive has also been sold, yes

Quite a coup for the NNR. A "really useful engine" with good regional connections and just nicely run-in after her overhaul. I wonder how the new owners feel about mainline running?

Having a main line registered locomotive that is based in East Anglia opens up a few possibilities for steam charters out of Norfolk - from Norwich, for example. Of course, the stock would still need to come from down south.

Ecstatic to see that it's within touching distance of home. Will be quite the sight alongside the other major LNER liveried 4-6-0.

Truly an exciting time at the NNR! Does anyone know who the new owner is/owners are yet?

Not sure you can touch Hull from there, but agree it is a very exciting addition to the gala and to the home fleet. I was really looking forward to this gala anyway, but this is a real bonus :)

My apologies - I meant touching distance of my home! :) Norfolk a bit closer to Sidcup than Hull at any rate.

Great news - (6)1306 has seen very little use since being given a thorough overhaul a couple of years ago and it's a loco that has been well cared for by its previous owners since being purchesed from BR. It looks like it will have a more active future on a line where it will fit in well. I've never visited the NNR, but the photos I've seen in magazines and indeed on this forum suggest that this is an omission I ought to rectify one of these days, while the stud of locos it operates gets more impressive by the year.

Oh sorry, touching distance of 'your' home. So used to people refer to the loco's real home on here!!!

On the subject of stock having to come from downsouth, isn't some mainline stock stabled at the MNR? Not that far North for that to go.
