Now confirmed that the Duke of Gloucester website is incorrect, it's a normal TE to Kingswear for the 22nd August.

    regards

Is the site correct about it being 6024 on the 15th though?

    UKsteam.info also shows 6024 vice 71000 on Sun 15th.

If 71000 is hauling the normal TE on 22nd Aug, then perhaps she is also hauling to run to Plymouth the day before (Sat 21st), hence the mention of Plymouth on the 71000 web site?

The Duke's website mentioned in the previous update that she could possibly be doing the Pathfinder trip on 21st August to Plymouth instead of Tornado however that has been removed possibly by being overwritten by the TE trip on the 22nd and the Plymouth reference left in in error.

    Regards
    Brian

The trip to Plymouth on the 21st August has now been caped due the uncertainty of 60163 being available. 60163's trip down to Penzance in September has also been caped due to low bookings.

Not sure about it being in OED though.

CAPED is railway telegraphic code for train cancelled

One of a large number of such codes which were originally used in the days of railway telegraph machines. Many of these codes continued in use when telephones replaced the old telegraph instruments.

eg PINED = train terminated short of destination

Good to see that the 6024 King group are having the chance to run on the Torbays once again.

Indeed cheers for clearing that up for Brian. I shall just use words out of the OED in future :).

Sadly I will most likely be unable to make any of the Duke's runs this summer, so hopefully she/he will be rostered on next years turns.

I'm booked for this Sunday's trip. Does anyone have any advice on the best place to park in Bristol for Bristol Temple Meads? I see it's over a tenner to park in the station car park!

£7.20 in outdoor section on a Sunday.

If you are coming from the M32 take a right at the roundabout. As far as i am aware there's free roadside parking on both sides of the river. The only reason we dont park there is because we arent totally confident it will still be in one piece when we get back....although i have never heard of break in's before.

Most of the on-street parking in the metered bays in Central Bristol is free on Sundays - Victoria Street by the hotels close by Temple Meads Station.

Google street view is great for checking potential parking roads for yellow lines, meters and 'max stay x hours' or 'permit holders only' signs
