Certainly sounded good climbing past the crowds at Birkett Common
I do. If that is 20 mins for the Blue Riband section, that must be one of the best Class 7 runs ever with 12 on. @iancawthorne will know.
46115 at Grayrigg and Crosby Garrett.
How about 19m 29.06s
Mine at carlisle on arrival earlier i hope everyone on board todays first R.T.C. C.M.E .had a good day out on 46115
Passing a very warm Birkett this afternoon.........................................
Some decent weather for a change as No 46115 'Scots Guardsman' works round the curve at Hincaster with the northbound 'Cumbrian Mountain Express' with
Mick Kelly driving, Martyn Soames on the shovel and Roly Parker Guard.
Lovely weather on the S+C today, a Pennine backdrop and 'Scots Guardsman' working the return 'Cumbrian Mountain Express' through the lovely hamlet of
Crosby Garrett with Mick Kelly driving, Martyn Soames/Chris Holmes on the shovel and Roly Parker Guard
Cracking photos Gents! Nice to see steam running full-stop, but especially so in view of the hot weather at the moment!
I think it's MP275 to MP259.75, that the measured times are compared. The eleventh fastest over that distance is 19' 31''. All the top eleven are class 8 and today would be the fastest climb since 2006. 70000 almost certainly did it quicker last year but with load eleven.
SG did it last September in 20' 39''.
Something special today looking at all four climbs. Great stuff, hats off to WCR and RTC.
Footage of 46115 storming past Langho this evening.
Shap Wells & Langwathby
46115 entering the Lune Gorge near the site of Dillicar Troughs and at Wharton Dikes
46115 seen at Salterwath and from above Birkett Tunnel.
I hesitate to add this video as (after a long enforced lay-off) I made a bit of a pigs ear of it. But for what it's worth here's SG flying past Greenholme and Scout Green. My apologies for the jerks and shakes.
Edited to a better quality video.
My video from climb up to Shap and on the return at Crosby Garrett
With some stills from my wife, on what was a very plesant day out in some stunning weather. Lovely walk from Newbiggin-on-Lune to Crosby Garrett.
Hi Chris, good to see that you out and about again.
46115 crossing Docker Viaduct & entering Mallerstang at Low Frith.
Thank you Ralph. It was certainly a treat for me. Now I'm puzzling why it's not loaded in HD quality. Forgotten so much. Hope you and your family are keeping safe. Take care - Chris
