It has taken a long time but this Chapelon Pacific arrived at an undercover restoration site just before the Christmas and NewYear holiday period. 2014 looks to have got off to a good start for those with an interest in steam heritage.
The group involved have been carrying out preparation work for some time and this engine is substantially complete. A project worth watching.

Great news. Hazy childhood memories of the boat train with an E on the front await rekindling!

The restoration continues steadily away, the locomotive and tender being slowly dismantled, with some components already being restored to working order - at least they don't have to source an air pump the one that came on the engine appears to be fine. The best news is that the boiler is being prepared for lifting and it has been assessed as repairable.
