A very impressive departure from Bristol this morning with 6024 'King Edward I'. A voyager and two units were allowed up the bank before the King. After a slightly late departure, the King made a steady approach to Lawrence Hill before being given a green signal. At this point the driver immediately opened the regulator and had the King accelerating hard through the station at the start of the climb towards Filton Abbey Wood. The wheels were slipping slightly on the greasy rails but the driver was always in command. Excellent driving and entertainment. <BJ>

Saw her going through Church Stretton, looking good! Any idea why she was half an hour late?

Cheers, thank you! She was definitely a great sight after a 30 minute wait; steam, snow, sun and a GWR whistle, cannot get any better that that!

Well the King looked magnificent today, as always it must be said.
I managed 3 shots around the Abergavenny water stop, if you're interested in viewing the result then click the link :)

Held at Maindee East Jc for a freight, then at Abergavenny loop for a late running service train to overtake, followed by an extended water stop near the station. Left Abergavenny about 30 mins down.

That's good to know, there was a few unfair accusations being directed at the King by passengers waiting for their late service train at Church Stretton, glad to know they were unfounded!

@evilswans Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.

@SVRgirl & @acorb It was also reported the the class 67 box was 10 minutes late departing Paignton.

@mcgo Those are some cracking shots at Shrewsbury with the sunset on that column of steam.

Excellent shots mcgo, thank you. You can feel the cold, and it was bl**dy cold on top of the tender at Abergavenny and Hereford trying to get the 'better' coal to the front.

Sounds like she was suffering from SCCS.

Hmmmmm. Maybe she thought she was going to have to go on the London Midland at Shrewsbury!
