Having recently met the group intent on building the A2 at Doncaster I think that you are optimistic in your 3000 year timescale. They do have plans, though, which if they came to fruition, could change things..... Slightly.

IIRC haven't the Doncaster P2 Group adopted the A1SLT model of funding recently?

Perhaps we should pause for a moment and reflect on what was preserved, then disposed of, effectively on one man's whim - I give you North Star, Lord of the Isles, the Johnson 0-4-4T, the Kirtley 0-6-0...

They have but without much success. What will anyone who wants to see a P2 running do, put there money with this lot or to a project that's that's well on the way to completion with the group, building it being able to say 'here's one we made earlier'?

You and I both know the answer to that - but there may well be some desire to indeed see a 'true' P2 rather than a modified*/modernised P2 amongst some enthusiasts?

    * modified as in e.g. the A1 pattern boiler as opposed to an original rebuild, if you follow my drift.

You can give as many Bullied Pacifics as you like for a Dean single. Good luck in finding one though. :D

Personally I’d just sacrifice all 16 Halls and be done with it. :)

Unfortunately it is another duplication - like the 'other' B17. I am afraid that both are 'no-hopers' and would have been better joining forces with the other groups - all IMHO of course!

Still think Mr Martin should buy the frames and build an A2/2 out of them... ;)

A Hall that does 115 mph is just as uncomfortable and air -resistance power (which is the ugly one) is only 70 % of what a Saint needs to go 130.

I’m just waiting for Didcot to announce that they plan to use the Saint as the basis of a conversion to the prototype Hall...

Great idea - as they've already got a spare set of original Hall wheels and cylinders! They could even call it St.Martin.

    Let me join.
A boiler and crankshaft from a german baureihe 44 will be fine.
If fastest existing steam locomotives were to run a race the A2/2 can be named Blue Max.

And the boiler/firebox which is been used to build Beachy Head is used for a new build GN Atlantic. :Saywhat:
