Good to see but I think that contrary to the linked website, the original 34052 ended up at Cashmores.

Hang on, haven't we already gone past the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain last year?

Irrelevant. Any year is a good year to honour Hugh Dowding.

I take it that any significance of the proposed renaming has escaped you?

    "Would of preferred 'Lord Lucan'"
As well as the grammatical difference between "would of" and the correct "would have" as well. :)

Being a Bulleid, even after re-naming I bet the atmosphere in the cab will still be "stuffy".

    I'll fetch my coat...

In that case can we expect 34081 to come out as 34052 as well? It is after all a real BoB rather than a WC.

Isn't there a slight difference in the loco's profile ?

Whatever the name is going to be, 34081 is an engine that I am eagerly awaiting to see and ride behind. <BJ>.

Maybe, but when has that ever stopped phoney identity changes?

She's already appeared as 34057 on the NNR and may appear as another Squadron as part of some centenary celebrations.

34081 has a 9' cab and 5000 gall tender, 34052 would have had an 8' 6" can and 4500 gall tender prior to rebuilding so yes, slight difference in profile.

Nothing phoney about honouring the head of Fighter Command or anything else associated with the Battle of Britain.

You won't have to wait long and she will most definitely be 92 Squadron when you get to ride behind her. You may get to ride behind her unnamed as a planned rededication ceremony will take place some time after her re-entry to traffic.

Didn't say it wasn't, just thinking advertising it as that isn't the greatest idea. Like the Millennium Wheel opening in about 2003.
