    Why the clue is in the class name Battle of Britain, unless I've got my history wrong Butch Harris wasnt involved.

    I think you've missed the point, the idea was to honour the head of Fighter Command, The West Countries were the same engines with a different naming theme so a representation of 34052 can be quite easily achieved by changing the name and number. The tender is not correct but tenders were regularly changed between individual locomotives.

    No I think you have missed the point. My post was humour, with a gentle dig at those who were pushing for special recognition for bomber command. Now it may have been poor humour and you may have not thought it funny, but there is no need to get all anally retentive about it.
