I would also like clarification of that statement as I have not seen any vote or referendum concerning this event.

Where do you get your information from?

This is a positive step forward for the line having a rebuilt BoB running! I can't wait myself to see SAS with her nameplates...
Are these going to be the original ones?

I can confirm that 34059’s insurance boiler steam test was successful and the loco moved under its own power.

I shall be updating the web site when I get the pictures.

The nameplate and plaques, will obviously be replicas. The group does have one of the original plates, but it was badly damaged while in service (a picture of it in service is on the Bulleid Society web site in 34059’s photos).

The replicas of the crest are of better quality and a lot more detailed than the original ones!!!

Brilliant news about 34059, can Jon Bowers or Ian Bowskill tell us if they have any plans to run a charter with the loco in the Autumn please? [-o<

I can confirm that 34059 has been steam tested, this took place over the last two days
3&4 March. It now has a current boiler ticket, but there are several issues to resolve none
of which are a problem. It has currently returned to the workshop for attention to these issues and when the work has been completed further consideration will be given steaming and running.
34059 is the first rebuilt Battle of Britain to return to steam, the first Bulleid pacific to
carry a 5250 gallon tender tank and the first Bulleid to run with a newly constructed tender.
Can we run the locomotive first and prove it, then return it to traffic before we have a photographic charter!

Wonderful achievement, well done all. Not knocking it in the slightest but didn't Taw Valley have a new build tender?

Congratulations all round to the 34059 team ! I look forward to my first ride behind it at the Bluebell later in the year. Incidentally 34046 will soon have a brand new tender of the same 5250 gallon design to replace the borrowed MN tender with which it is currently paired.

again, I think you will find that 34070 has the old tank from 34023 on a new chassis, so
again not a completley new tender.

    Martin,
If my memory serves me correctly, 34028 has an ex LNER tender underframe, I am not
sure if the tank is a new one, so it is not a complete new build as 34059.

As MiddleC has said one step at a time, but yes, it is certainly on the radar for a future charter. I also have a date booked in November for a charter with 80151 on a PW train.

    Cheers,
    Jon

No I do not currently volunteer
Within members mostly considering it's been running for 49 years without one. I'm not saying everyone's against it.

Thanks for the info Jon, sorry to ask yet again but do you also have anything planned for the black Dukedog with engineers wagons on the Bluebell in the Autumn aswell as 80151?

    Cheers

To be honest I hadn't really thought about yet! I'm sure something could be organised should loco / stock / line availability coincide towards the end of this year, but I guess the key factor would be whether enough people would support it. The latter would probably be influenced by how many charters take place between it first appearing in black and the time the Bluebell charter window arrives, but I certainly wouldn't rule out a Bluebell event at this stage.

Sorry, that answer seems more unhelpful than I intended, but it really is too early to say!

    Cheers,
    Jon

Thanks again Jon, I only ask about the Dukedog as my Dad and I won't be able to get up to the Llangollen for the gala or any of the charters involving the loco so we are really hoping that one charter can be organised with the loco at the Bluebell before it's get repainted back into green.

    Cheers

    Thanks
