34067 5Z27 Southall - Carnforth 05/03/09

Excellent Shots! I still don't understand that mix of stock!!! And where 34067 - Tangmere is going and why?

 

The train was put together by Rick Edmonson. It is a special train formed for small groups to tour and can accommodate 25-45 I believe. It includes a Great Northern saloon and an LNWR vehicle (all be it on MkI Underframe)

Now in the ownership of West Coast Railways it is heading back to their base, along with a loco they maintain.

 

Thanks for the reply! So do you know what the occasion is? Also be nice to know how some of the stock on this set passed mainline and where else they have been?

Annual maintenance.....

 

It was in the past, often seen on Ascot Specials. It will be interesting to see if this work goes its way this summer.

 

Annual maintenance? It was only up at Carnforth at the back end of last year, just after WCR acquired the set. I don't believe it has worked any trains since then (other than ECS moves between CS and Clapham Jn?)

 

It actually went to Carnforth on the 15th May last year, did a couple of tours before returning to Southall on the 2nd June, I remember as I went to Preston for the shots but didnt manage to get any. I did manage some last night though at http://northwestrailphoto.fotopic.net/c1662947.html

Train arrived at Carnforth on November 12, departed November 24 - the illfated train with 37712 at the helm (that was stopped at Crewe due to loco fire)
