All this talk about Canadian Pacific reminded me that I have a few pictures of her when she was working on the Mid-Hants. I Have just put them on Flickr and, if anyone would like to see them, they're in the 'Stop Press! Latest Pictures!!' Collection in the Set dated 13th August :

They'll be there for about a month, but they are also in the 'Mid-Hants Railway' Set which is in the 'Preserved Railways' collection : http://www.flickr.com/photos/train-pix/collections/72157626197106083/

Hope that they are of interest.

I wonder if the hold up is related to the need to get 34039's tender registered on the Rolling Stock Library?

    Regards,

    Dan

Well as 34105 is being overhauled the tender probably is as well.

Thanks. I did wonder if it was the Chinook 66.

35005 Canadian Pacific is still in Ropley yard today. I'm lead to believe this move won't happen until the loco and tender has received an inspection. This should happen towards the end of this month or the beginning of next month. But this is not set in stone.

Would the necessary paperwork for 35005 Canadian Pacific tender still be valid for main line use. It’s now been a few years since 35005 Canadian Pacific was last on the main line.

From memory the last time 34105 Swanage turned a wheel in anger must have been about fourteen years ago. So there must be a vast amount of work need to bring this tender back in to operational condition. Far better to use 35005 Canadian Pacific tender for the time being. Only minor work need to bring the tender back in to operational condition.

35005's tender will still be registered on the Rolling Stock Library, albeit the category will have changed. 34039's tender will never have been on the RSL therefore would have to be registered, which will include the derogation process as I understand it. Can anyone with more experience enlighten us?

    Regards,

    Dan

I saw the tender at Ropley stn 2 years ago when there was a shunt going on, that of 35005. I'm no expert but plate work looked a little worse for wear I doubt you could repaint it and put it into use.

Don't forget that Canpac is owned by the MHR, Wadebridge is majority owned by the MHR but Swanage is not. Therefore presenting some issues over hiring and costs.

Canpac's tender had to have some work done on it before it was fit to run as the last time it was run it looked as though it was pulling out to overtake the engine!

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but it struck me that perhaps 35005 would now be going by road, via a field in Tarrant Hinton? In which case she will have left the MHR by now.

Does anyone know which loco the Great Dorset Steam Fair has as a load for the heavy haulage arena this year? 35005 did the honours last year.

I understand one of the Standard 4 Tanks from Swanage was going and possibly something from the Bluebell Line DH

Is it still on? The basic timings and link to the detailed timings have been removed from the MHR site.

I hope not Martin, just booked some time off for tommorrow afternoon!

When at the MHR on the 10th September the shed volunteers were cleaning 35005 up for this move to Eastleigh. My Father commented that it was a good job they were as the state she was in might have led some people to believe she was off to the scrapyard!
