I'm led to believe the frames of 35005 are to be lifted on 29th June so the driving wheels can be removed.

its taken you how long to strip 35005 down to its componant bits, :) Cashmores would have done it in half the time :):)
so whens the oil bath going in, and the cladding sheets being ordered whoops, wrong loco

To be fair it's quite hard. You have to take a bolt off, have a cup of tea, then a biscuit and sometimes even a chin wag then we take the next one off ;-)

In fairness to the guys working on her, they could only take things so far, so as not to jeopardise the lottery bid - hence Simon's marathon tea drinking, biscuit munching, chin wagging sessions.........

Just wait for the new Dave to start - he'll soon have em working! :)

If money was no object we could have CanPac in steam this summer/autumn if we started when we did and went full pelt at it. That being said because of the lottery grant this project is much more than just restoring a locomotive but is now part of a grander scheme of inspiring young people into the heritage scene and hopefully passing down some skills/experince before they are lost to time. Plus we also had to wait for Wadebridge to finish her ticket otherwise we could have a locomotive that is ready but a tender that isnt.

Time for the new Dave to crack that whip. ;):)

We have a smoker as well and it would rude if we didn't account for his cigarette breaks as well between removing bolts lol

Picture says a thousand words, as someone mentioned recently we had our lift on Monday. Things are progressingly nicely and her wheels are currently on holiday in South Devon. An offical update will soon be on the MHR website, our new project manager started this week and is organising things.

Is there a plan to give them a tender each eventually or will they keep sharing?

The Wadebridge team are building there own. They are only using CanPacs because she is out of service and it saved them hiring one

Tender frames are in Ropley yard and the new tender tank is still at Alton.

Thanks for the photos :) in theory when she comes out of her next overhaul she should have her own tender :)

An original highsided tender, tank design, so does that mean maybe next time early BR, or Southern " sunshine"livery with either 34007 , or 21C107 :)

Dunno when you took the pics on the wheels - but IIRC the wheels for 34007's tender are donated from a box........... so most likely eo belong to Swanage & tender frames are more advanced than that!

Those are Wadebridges wheels. The class 33s wheel set was the original plan but they scrapped it and got some new wheels cast I believe at the South Devon.
