Just reviewing some pictures from 1967 - I have a couple of 35008 Orient line at Waterloo & and on the approaches - wondering if anyone here timed the train ? July 8th 1967 , day before the last rites - train I believe was a Weymouth -Waterloo as it was non stop from Southampton - leaving Southampton at around 1400 -- anyone fill in the blanks ?

Do you mean 7th July 1967?

I don't think 35008 worked on the 8th, I think that was the last 12.32 ex Bomo on the 7th. But such as Big Al may correct me.

I was on that 12.32 ex Bournemouth on the 7th with 35008. 10 cars. 18 late ex Bournemouth, 6 early into Waterloo. Driver McCallagan of Nine Elms. 75 mph up Roundwood, 80s afterwards. 86 - 87 max.

Timed in detail all the way.

Was 35008 withdrawn after this run, or did it work again that weekend ?

That could well have been it's last run, but I'll ask big brother who noted everything down.

I'll type up the log soon and let you have a copy.

Give me a nudge in a couple of weeks if you haven't heard from me!

Sorry! Been slogging away on my Owl book.

It's on my list for tomorrow now.

    Update.

Found the original log, printed it off, and have opened an excel file to type it into. So progress is being made. I'll copy it as a jpeg when it's done tomorrow.
