Am I remembering correctly that there was a southern style SSE headboard carried by 34092 back in the day? Maybe it will be dug out this summer?

Of course she's going to be black, whatever gave you the idea that it would be anything else, apart maybe from maroon. :)

I have been rather hoping for a version of this livery to reflect the delivery in war time paint job..

I quite like the idea of black or maroon, but need to know which so that my 35018 follows the one that is 12 inches to the foot...

I don't know about the black/maroon rumours, but this was found in the rubbish skip at Carnforth recently....

I heard it was the correct shade of DB red that they were struggling to match for the wheels and frames that was holding it up.......

i have heard that its carnforth's woodern mock casing , they had to stop the fitters nicking bits off it to light warming fires with :)

I am beginning to wonder about what the delay actually is, its been very close to completion now for some time, been seen working under its own steam, i suspect its going to turn up for its light engine test and loaded test. and first revenue tour in very quick succession, whens the Great Britain?

Well, let's have a look at what we do know, what other loco's are being shopped at the same time, contract job on 5231 for RS&G, completed very recently, also 6115, 5699 and 8151 have all received recent attention, 35018 has obviously been worked on, by the looks of it's lovely new paint job ! I can only suggest that manpower and time or the lack of, are the main culprits and these are only known to me, by watching the posts on here, WCRC may have many more reasons not known to any outside fortress 10A.

Every repair and maintenance facility has finite capacity. You only have to look at the interval between 6115 then 5699 and now 35018 appearing. 4932 was fast tracked in between but has not proved durable. 34067 was a runner on acquisition and the 8F has a rolling programme of its own seemingly.
Wonder if any conditions of sale apply to 34016 which say it has to be overhauled in a given timescale? Could be a long rest for the Scot and BoB.

There's also the contract overhaul of 61306. I'm sure it'll be soon, and it will probably get a gentle running in on the Scarboroughs or some other routes close to Carnforth.

Is that supposition in respect of the B1 or MN? A requirement for running in will surely apply to both?

    This supposition relates to 35018.

I would be very surprised if 10A doesn't synchronise the withdrawal of 46115 from active service this year with the emergence of 35018.

That seems like a sound strategy and then utilise the MN in a similar way to how the Scot has been deployed until either 46115 or 34016 is outshopped.

Overheard line-side chatter at Hellifield this morning was that the test run is imminent. According to the source, it was scheduled last month but didn't materialise because the paperwork wasn't submitted correctly. Don't shoot the messenger...just saying!

Wouldn't be the first time there's been a paper work cock up would it?

Thats interesting, and would tie in to 35018 posssibly being trailed on a mainline tour towards the end of the month/ early May
