Heard the same a couple of weeks back. Also that the gloss black has given way to a more historically authentic livery.
Again, do not shoot the messenger, it was only lineside wibble.

Has one ever made it that far north? What was the one that went to Newcastle in the 60's?

35012 also got to Carlisle. Great stuff if true, and bookings for the CME will probably increase- just in case! A Bulleid appearing on one of these without prior announcement has happened before.

didnt one get north of the boarder on the loco exchanges? it depends on what engine is booked to run from York on that leg of GBX, i'm half expecting 35018 to be on test this week and to be the substitute engine on the Duchesses tour if she is still undergoing repairs, but almost certainly with the insurance of a Diesel on the back as insurance till she has prooved her self

Not sure a Merchant did but 34004 Yeovil did run in Scotland during the exchange trials.

Fingers crossed we will be seeing 35018 very soon.

I concur that an MN hasn't got over the border yet. Would be interesting to see how it does on Beattock one day.

Only the Light Pacifics got north of the border in the '48 exchanges and promptly flattened the Highland main line. :)

I'm not. Would rather see it up here where I don't have to spend much to get to the start point, and there have been rumours that a prolonged stay at Carnforth is the plan.

Marcus Robertson was quoted in one of the magazines, a couple of months ago, stating that 35018 was not coming South as early as originally expected. Other locos have been allocated the trips that 6201 was due to haul.

Yes, replacing 46115 seems more likely in the medium term than acting as the 34067 sub in the south. There is plenty of suitable work for the MN up north to keep it gainfully employed.

Thanks for that, couldn't remember which one did, wasn't there a suggestion of 35028 going to Glasgow as it's last farewell tour?

According to U.K. Steam Info it's down for the Devon Belle on 9th July so let's hope the story of it now being in green is right otherwise they can keep it up north out of the way

2-3 Months ago SD advised it would be 6201 instead of 35018, then 1 - 2 months ago this trip disappeared from the SD website.

The Devon Belle isn't running any more John. And from what I gather, I don't think the green has gone on. Judging by the fact a photo was posted on here a few days ago of the top of 35018 in steam, and it was still in black and it must take quite some time to repaint a MN!

Thanks, I didn't know that, it's still showing on UK steam but I wouldn't be interested if it's in a Mickey Mouse livery

A northern finale was certainly mooted, not sure about Glasgow being mentioned but it would have been quite something.
Maybe 18 will one day masquerade as 7 and visit its namesake city?
