Interesting vid here (not mine) of 35028 coming to an abrupt halt in Sydney Gardens

Speculation on there is that it was failure to cancel the AWS

The stop behind 35028 looks a bit like the sort of final stop Jim Evans, (Nine Elms MPD), used to do coming down from over 90mph at Brookwood into Woking on the last up Weymouth! Very good for getting a nice fast even time run. Only ever beaten by a stop I once had on the 14.40 Trier to Koblenz behind a coal fired 01 pacific. Came racing out of the tunnel at Cochem and made a stop so violent that anyone standing up fell over, and an awful lot of luggage fell off the overhead racks.

But here I am sure there was a serious reason for that stop behind 35028.

Thanks for that, Wayne. Always fascinating to read that kind of tale from the footplate.
