Is this fact, hearsay or rumour?

Umm, i wonder how hard would it be to fetch 35028 to ropley, remove the injectors, clacks and all the suspect parts from 35005, ,her tender could if needed be converted to take an air pump and try it out on 35028 then the MHR is passed for 60 for testing and with a spare MN close at hand for parts, might it get the problem sorted out quicker in the long term, 35028 failing on the MHR couldnt be the distaster it would if the problem wasnt found and it sat down on the main line?

While part of this post has some sound ideas (i.e. exchanging injectors with others and then testing on a preserved line) I think the idea of 'putting an air pump on 35005's tender' is rather more complicated and more difficult that martin butler realises,

what i meant was that if after everything had been done, and the faught ended up being something connected with an internal problem such as deposits of sediment and rust continually causing blockages because the tank could well be becoming to the point that a new tank could be needed it would be a possible option , im not saying that this is the cause, because i dont know, but if after a series of tests it was found to be the reason it would be viable to do a tender swop after its been modified and anyway you could always run it on test in vacuum brake form to see if the problem re appears, after all if you test everything and it still happens , then swop tenders , for a run, and it works fine, you then know that the problem is somewhere in the water delivery system

Sorry, but simply swapping tenders would not work. Apart from the air pump you would have to modify the whole braking system to match the loco's. as the air system on preserved steam locos., in effect applies the (steam or vacuum) original braking system which works the loco brakes.

Even with the three preserved A4s all of which have been air brakes you could not interchange the tenders because of the different ways the braking systems have been set up and approved by the VAB's.

I'm sure the MNLPS are considering all viable options to get Clan Line back working and will let us know what is a happening when they have something to report.

OOooops.... did I sound a bit like the speculation police in posting that? If so, is there a uniform that goes with the job? LOL! I'm told some girls love a man in uniform, drool................ (Big Smiley!)

    Bryan,
you are so correct. I am sure that the MNLPS are more than capable of sorting out the problem without any well meaning but misguided comments on here!
