Can anyone tell me what is happening with the 6 preserved BR Standard 4 4-6-0s?

    75014 at Paignton
    75027 at Bluebell
    75029 at NYMR
    75069 at SVR
    75078 at Keighley
    75079 at MHR.

I know '29 is running, but how far (if it all) is the overhaul of the other 5?

    Thanks in Advance

Hi all with 75079 at the start of its restoration on the MHR and 73096 is now towards the end of her boiler ticket which runs out in 2012. My question is what is the preferred loco for a preserved railway a 75xxx or 73xxx? and why.

    Thanks

regarding 75014 at Paignton, due to it not being required for service untill i believe, 2014 when the Manor retires it's currently sat in Churston Shed, minus boiler whihc is at crewe. Work not lieky to start for aouple of years yet as mechanically she's almost sound.

75069 is waiting for her turn in the que, but there are a lot of other locos that are just as suitable for the railway, and have been out as long if not longer (7819, Hagley Hall, 2857, and so on)

75027 is in the shed at Sheffield Park, in one piece (i.e. not disassembled) but with no work going on. At the moment the queue ahead includes Archie, the S15 and Camelot amongst the big locos, and Birch Grove, Baxter and the P class amongst small locos, so my guess is that any overhaul isn't going to start any time soon.

I think you will find that 75069 or 1501 (or both) are next into BN works as soon as 43106 is outshopped. 2857 is being progressed as a volunteer project, as is t'other Large Prairie at BY. Taw Valley is a contract job for the owner.

75069 is the next loco through the works at Bridgnorth. She is going to be around a 2-3 year job.
2857 should be out by september if all goes well.

1501 is not in the condition that the boiler staff thought after a good inspection.

I'm surprised that so many are out of service as I think they are idea preserved line machines. I had a ride out on 75014 at NYMR a few years back and thought it was a marvalous bit of kit. In my opinion they are more attractive than their 2-6-0 cousins.

Great for crews with a well thought out cab, easy to dispose of and fairly economical with coal and water. I want to see one back on the mainline! (Whitby at 25/30mph doesn't count)

Could anyone enlighten me as to when 75014 first ran in preservation?

(I thought she was still being restored :? ).

As you can probably tell, I've only recently got back in to the steam scene in the last year, hence a fair few pleasant surprises as to what's back and running these days.

She ran in the 1990s as I remeber her doing a stint on the Jacobite. Not sure when she first returned to steam though.

June / July 1994 IIRC. Ran for at least one week with in plain black with no cab numbers or BR crests.
