Great day out at the KWVR, some lovely runs up the valley especially a lively run with 4079 which was driven very enthusiastically throughout the day!

Agreed on 4079, and 6990 made plenty of noise as well. Some late running, touching 30 mins at one point. I wouldn't have minded if not for having to get back to York for a works do.
Back tomorrow, hopefully the weather is drier tomorrow.

Some footage from this weekend's Steam Gala at the Keighely & Worth Valley Railway, featuring 4079 'Pendennis Castle' and 6990 'Witherslack Hall'.

Here's my footage of The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway Steam Gala which I filmed on Friday and Saturday. The main star attraction was of course 4079 Pendennis Castle as well as 6990 Witherslack Hall. This video shows the two visiting engines in action doing various roles during the gala with both of them sounding incredible and performed immaculately. I hope you enjoy the video.

Sadly a disappointment on 2 counts - the pairing of 4079 + 6990 on Saturday was at night during hours of darkness (why not during daylight hours as per Friday ?) and every time I saw 4079 at work it was wreathed in steam at the front end (was this a loco problem or driving technique ?) so all my action images show only the smokebox door and buffer beam. Fortunately I managed some static station shots of the whole loco but some action shots would have been nice.

For those interested, 4079 is planned to run again on Good Friday (29th) and Saturday 30th March.

4079 running this Friday and Saturday at normal fares .
Awaiting the outburst from Southport that the railway forgot to mention this in advance or is he just biased against a neighbour over the hill ?

In my opinion, galas don't get much better than that. The timetable was interesting, the visitors were great, the driving was incredible, and the members of staff were all friendly and not intrusive. Well done, KWVR, as always.

If the driver from Saturday's on it, I'll be very tempted to go.

The railway publicised this fact in the expected places and appropriate arrangements are being made to visit; perhaps the "neighbour over the hill" could learn a few lessons ?

That's a picture I can relate to if for no other reason than I remember this same combination working during a previous steam gala - in March 1975 (a mere 49 years ago:eek:)! 75-3-22 33 52044+41241 copy.jpg
